I have Arris TG2492LG. At random times, usually between 23:00 and 05:00 in the morning, the router will start a firmware update without any warning. If I look in http://192.168.178.1/, I see this message:
This comes unannounced, on any day of the week, and usually shuts off my internet for 15 - 20 minutes. This has now happened 3-4 times in 2021. So far I have:
How can I stop this from happening, or have some alert when it will happen?

I just happens I very recently posted a complaint about this too in Dutch which you can find here:

The Ziggo moderators have passed through the request to do the modem updates on a later time at night.
Ofcourse they can't make everybody happy, we're living in Europe, not overseas so I guess the time will stay between 01.00 and 06.00 somewhere at night time. And ofcourse it's a request, it's not yet known if technical can honor the request.
I also asked if it was possible to put a modem update notification on the Ziggo error/status page. Ziggo officials here said they also passed this request so lets hope the technical department will honor these request if possible.
Not much more they can do for us I guess, modem updates are needed and it's better to do this at night times when people are playing, then in daytime when the connection is used for work and business too.
Hi @changmo! I'm sorry to hear that this cost you a lot a trouble already! Like @Richard G. has mentioned my colleague has passed it through. Hopefully they can do anything about it. For now there is no solution unfortunately 😞 Sorry!
