I am working from home which requires VPN .. Earlier i had contacted Ziggo helpdesk and raised this issue with them but all they could do is reset my modem... Could you disable IPV6 setting on my modem?
Opgelost! Ga naar oplossing.
i dont have verry much knowledge of apple devices
maybe these 2 can help you better on that

Disabling IPv6 on the modem's eRouter is no longer possible since Full Dual-Stack IPv4 + IPv6 is available to all customers.
To determine whether Dual-Stack Lite (CGNAT) is in use, which may cause VPN connectivity issues, could you post the first half of your WAN IPv4 address?
IPv4 address first half is 82.217
You are already on Full Dual-Stack.
If you experience any issues, you may set the DHCPv6 server operation mode to stateful, this may result in your device falling back to IPv4.
VPN should work on full Dual Stack. What is your isssue?
Folks, I had exactly the same on my new smartwifi modem giga a year ago after upgrading internet. Symptons were I did not get an ipv4 address anymore from the modem (got apipa 169.254.x.x instead). My cisco VPN software needs ipv4
@ Rikst was the one that removed ipv6. Its been fine ever since
https://community.ziggo.nl/t5/Internet/Verzoek-IPV6-uitschakelen/m-p/861925#M92743
Note : It looked like something related with the two DHCP servers in the modem as I temp had a seperate DHCPv4 server that circumvented the issue
Maybe this is your issue too @Rohit D ? That you get an 169.254.x.x IPv4 address from the modem ?
at that timeframe removing ipv6 was possible by forcing a ipv4-only profile, this today cannot longer be done everyone will receive/stay on full dual stack ipv4/6
VPN connectivity is the issue. Sometimes during the week i need to connect to India servers but the IP address is still not from the indian domain. I checked with couple of my colleagues, they asked me to check with ISP to disable the IPV6 ...
do you have a windows pc
ifso you can disable ipv6 support on the network card itself
example just remove the checkbox in the ipv6 option
From where exactly I will be able to set this DHCPv6 server? Do i need to contact Ziggo for it?
I have a MacBook with MacOS 12
you dont have to contact to set to dhcpv6
follow these steps
go to 192.168.178.1 login so you can access modem settings
then Advanced Settings
then DHCP
then change the checkbox from stateless to statefull
then click on Apply Changes
Will this disable the IPv6 and force IPv4 profile?
no this cannot be done anymore not on the modem itself only on the device itself
IPv6 can no longer be switched on by the user, only a Ziggo employee can do this, I will submit this and then an employee will automatically enter the topic.
@Dave TS wil IPv6 disabled = uitgeschakeld hebben.
IPv6 can no longer be turned off, everyone gets Full Dual Stack with a unique IPv4 address and an IPv6 address.
i tagged you guys, maybe you know more of apple devices about how to disable ipv6 on the device itself
@Bert ik dit reeds vermeld en daar staat het gewoon prima.
Ik zie de spelfout, maar bij de Moderators staat het wel goed 😉
To connect with a VPN to IPv4 only domain (in India) do not use domain name, but use IPv4 address associated with the domain name.
PS: macOS 10.12 is severely outdated.
