DNS Servers

I would like to change the 2 DNS Servers that my Ziggo router are currently pointing to.  My desire is to reference the OpenDNS Servers to block adult content --

  • 208.67.222.123
  • 208.67.220.123

Is anyone familiar with how I can make these changes?

Thank You!!!

Changing the DNS servers in the modem is currently not possible.

Do I need to purchase my own router/modem to do this?

Not necessarily, you can point each device individually to an other than Ziggo DNS server off course in their settings.

Check out NextDNS by the way. You can control content with block lists and encrypt your DNS requests. You can download a NextDNS app for each device, or you can download a DNS profile e.g. for an iOS device. There’s even an option to link your external Ziggo IP address to your NextDNS account, then put in their DNS server addresses in your device and you’re good to go, minus the encryption feature.

You can choose whether or not to keep logs, for how long, where in the world they’re stored etc. With logging enabled you can even see (per device) statistics.

300000 DNS request/month are free. If you need more, or want to make more profiles it’ll cost 1,99 EUR/month or EUR 19,90/year.
