I have had ziggo internet for a year and a half now but i continue to experience internet drops and issues connecting to my work vpn. I decided to upgrade and buy a new router and my question is, is it better to buy a new modem or use the connect giga box in bridge mode? And if I should buy a new modem which would work best with huge interest? Thanks in advance!
Opgelost! Ga naar oplossing.

The Ubee 1318ZG in bridge 😉
I use the Unifi UDM Pro router.
But that's too much overkill for you (i think)

Stay in Bridge and use a good router.
There are no other good modems.
Ziggo has modems without the Puma chipset, they have Broadcom chipsets.
You can get those if other possible causes have been ruled out.
To evaluate your incoming and outgoing signal, can you post here from your modem the full pages of downstream and upstream values with a screenshot and last days Network history?
Where can I find the up and downstream values of my modem?

Can you place a photo here of the first place where Ziggo enters your house with any splitters and amplifiers and modem in the photo?

the connection comes into my basement through a utility closet and then i connect the modem through a connection in my walll
Ziggo Modem in router modus? Because the led isn't green.
And then your own router. That's double.
This modem has also the Puma chipset (and they are known for trouble)
i just requested to switch it to bridge mode like 30 min agi, it hasn't gone through yet i guess
If its in bridge you have to restart your own modem.
And only port 1 of the modem should be activ.
now it's in bridge mode
Double check your own router settings (e.g DHCP, Wifi)
Some Ziggo modems seem to react allergic to VPN traffic, even in bridge mode. That has nothing to do with chipsets as such, but with the poor firmware in the Ziggo modem.
If you have a internet connection over coax, you always have a DOCSIS modem. It can be in the Ziggo modem/router, if it is in bridge mode or not, or in a modem/router that you bought yourself. The router functionality is separate from the modem functionality.
The important thing however for the way the modem behaves, is the question how well the DOCSIS modem firmware is maintained. You can be assured that it will be much better maintained with a modem/router that you buy yourself. ISP's hate modem/router maintenance, it costs money and effort.
what do you mean by this, I'm not particularly familiar with setting up routers
Thank you that is very helpful, I might end up going with my own modem soon depending on the reliability of this set up
