Watch Ziggo TV without a media box

Hi,

My apologies for speaking in English.

I would like to connect the coax cable directly into my TV (without a media box).

I believe this should be doable and my TV (Samsung H6400 series) can handle digital TV.

Now, the problem is that the only coax cable coming into the house goes into the Connect Box (which is set to bridge mode but this is irrelevant) and the Connext Box doesn’t have a coax out port of course.

There used to be a dual coax socket on the wall but one of the Ziggo technician replaced the socked with a new one and that is only a single socket.

What is the best way to go about this?

Thanks for any suggestions and happy new year to everyone! 🙂

I think you are right. Analogue is or will go out at Ziggo per region. There is already a media box with TV Start. TV Complete is a Mediabox XL and TV Max has a Next mediabox.

Has the Ziggo technician not left a splitter, like this, to connect another coaxial cable?

You can use a splitter on the single hole socket. Call the helpdesk, they will send you one.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I have found the splitter like this in the Ziggo box that I had put away. I connected it and then connected the coax to my Samsung UE48H6400AR .

I ran the auto channel scan but no channels are found. On the following link I can see that my TV model number (H6400AR) does not come up but something close to it does (UE48H6400AWXXN)

https://www.ziggo.nl/televisie/kabel-tv/kabel-tv-zonder-kastje/

I kind of thought that as long as they are both of the H6400 series, they’d be the same.

Is that possible that my Samsung UE48H6400AR does not have the capability to find digital channels?

Thank you!

Ik can't find the Samsung UE48H6400AR anywhere in the Netherlands, does it have a DVB-C tuner?

Sometimes with foreign tv sets, you wil have to try a different country code. Try Norway, Sweden or Switserland, possible UPC as provider. You will have to experiment .

I couldn’t find it anywhere online now either, it’s a 2014 model (like all H-series) purchased in Dubai, UAE.

I would have been sure that it has a DVB-C tuner but now I’m really not sure. How can I check? (other than Googling, which lead me to the same problem as yours - can’t find this model anymore)

Thanks again for trying to help figure this out.

Hmm.. tthe hough I purchased this in Dubai, UAE, I’ve reset it and region Europe/Asia is selected during the setup.

How do I change it to Norway? I am aware that many Samsung TV’s have a four button sequence (fast forward, then 2 different numbers, etc.) but this never worked on this TV as the remote has no number pad.

I’m not a 100% sure that my conclusion is correct but it seems that my TV only have DVB-T (terrastrial) not digital.. Even during auto tuning, only Analogue 0 is shown throughout, there’s not even a field for digital channels found.

Is there a cheaper DVB-C tuner I could buy to work with my TV?

I prefer not to buy a new TV or sign up to a package that is 20+ euros more per month just to get a set top box.

These devices have a DVB-C tuner that you can use for any TV.

Thank you @Be rt for the link. I will probably go ahead with the cheapest STB out there as we don’t watch much TV and I only need it to view live broadcast, no need to record and replay, etc.

Also, correcting myself just in case someone may be doing a search for the same model number. The correct model code for my TV is:

UA48H6400ARXZN  - and Samsung has confirmed that this one does not have a DBV-C tuner built in… something I never needed before so I didn’t realize. 🙂

Thanks again everyone for the ideas!

The same HUMAX IRHD-5550C as before but cheaper.

This one works very wel, I tested one here.

Good luck.
