multiple wifi boosters stopcontact in a huge house - same name and password?

Hi Ziggo support. Sorry I have to write in English. I have a problem with the wifi I hope you can help with. Multiple wifi stopcontact boosters.

We live in a very large house (it’s an old school). The only way we can get wifi through the house and garage is to use 3 of your stopcontact adaptors. (I have just ordered a 4th even...the house is THAT big.)

The problem is that all the boosters have different network names and passwords. When we walk around with our phones or laptops, we constantly have to change wifi connections manually to connect to a strong signal.

I called your tech support about this and they suggested I change the names of all the stopcontact boosters to the same name and password.

I would like to try it, but have a problem: How do I change all three boosters to the same password and network name?

I can log into http://ziggo-ap/ no problem on my PC, but am unsure how to target the adaptor I want to change. I can see one of them when I log in, but am not sure how to see the other two.

You can answer me in het Nederlands...I can understand it well, but my grammar is so bad when I write that I’m worried you wouldn’t understand me.

Cheers,

Lori

@Lorilin you can configure the adapters also via their ip number, just type:

https://192.168.178...

Then you can also change their name to more recognizable names.

I would suggest to use accesspoint that are connected via UTP cable, if possible, since their performance is better then the ethernet of powerline variants.

Hey @Lorilin . Welcome to our Community!

No problem at all, that you are writing in English. As long as you excuse me for possible mistakes i'm making in my replies 😉

Good thing you're contacting us. It can be difficult to accomplice a good working network throughout the entire house, when its that big (the house sounds amazing, btw ^^).

Making all the wifi-points having the same name, could help. The plus side is that you don't need to switch from network to network manually. But i have to say that it might not be the best solution to your problem. You'd expect that your devices (smartphone/tablet etc.) automatically switch to the most powerfull connection, when you are moving from room to room of to another floor. But this is not always the case. And when you have all the adapters set with the same name, you can't see wich adaptor you're connected to (and arren't able to switch too). So i want to give you this information, so that you know that it might be better to have all the adapters using different names. Just so that you are the one choosing wich network you're connected to, in stead of your device.

Aaaanyway. That wasn't even your question 😉@Henno gave you good information about how to change the settings per adaptor. Is this the info you were looking for, or do you need more help? :-)
